Greetings! Above is a picture of us taken last year. We haven't changed much! Miriam (on the left) is our last-born and is a Junior at Dordt College in Sioux Center, IA. Miriam is holding her dog, Foxy.
Not pictured are:
Our first son, Luke, and his family -- wife, Amanda, and sons Caden and Reuben
Our second son, Matt -- currently living with us in Malawi
Linda's work entails communication with supporters, coordinating and facilitating staff training for our partner churches here in Malawi and Mozambique, coordinating and facilitating volunteers/interns/work groups, accounting for our field office, as well as running lots of errands, conducting trainings and orientations, and hosting frequent guests!
Larry's work is currently with 5 partner organizations working to build organizational capacity so the indigenous organizations, in turn, can do more effective community development work. This involves field visits to see what's going on in the communities, receiving reports and giving feedback, reporting to supporting organizations, training partner staff, reviewing and helping to develop proposals, reviewing budgets and helping to track spending for compliance with budgets, meetings with partner staff for planning as well as serving our team as spiritual resource person.
Larry and Linda are sent out by RCA, seconded or loaned to CRWRC. We work with the Southern Africa Ministry Team of CRWRC -- Zambia, Malawi, Mozambique, and South Africa. Our assignment is mainly in Malawi and Mozambique. The partner organizations with whom we work are:
* The Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP),
Nkhoma Synod
* Save Orphans Ministries
* Christian Entrepreneurs Association
* Reformed Church in Mozambique, Mphatso Synod
* Anglican Church, Diocese of Niassa (Mozambique)
These churches and Christian organizations all work toward the goal of transformed communities -- communities where people recognize and utilize their God-given resources, live in harmony and work together toward a common goal. They use areas such as literacy, small business development, community health, food security (agriculture), and diaconal training to work toward this goal -- along with broader themes of biblical justice, creation stewardship, gender, and HIV/AIDS.
Please pray for faithful, committed leaders at all levels in organizations and communities, for a clear understanding of and declaration of the freedom and joy that is uniquely ours in Christ, for truly changed communities that will give God glory for all He does!
Grace and peace,
Larry and Linda McAuley
