Mike and Amy Martin

Mike and Amy Martin along with their children Creston, Ethan and Charis have been members with Wycliffe Bible Translators serving in Indonesia since 2001.  Mike's main role is to translate the Bible into the Kosarek language.  The Kosarek people are a remote people group, most of whom speak only their local language and have no access to the Bible, either in the national language (Indonesian) or in their mother tongue.  Missionaries in the 1970's came to the Kosarek people and established a church in this mountainous area, yet the people still do not have the Word of God.  Where would the American church be today without Biblical truths to guide and govern it?  The Kosarek church is a church with no foundation to stand on.  The Martins hope that by giving the people of Kosarek a Bible that they can read and understand, these people in the remote areas at the "end of the earth" will come to truly know the Lord Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior.

The book of Genesis was completed in January of 2009 and sufficient copies for each of the 16 local churches was published in June of the same year. Work is currently being done in Acts.  Mike also has the privilege of working with other Indonesians who are interested in translating Scripture into their own languages, training them to do translation in their own local languages.  It is exciting to work side by side in training and discipling men in the Word of God.

Amy's role is to take the Scripture that has been translated into the Kosarek language and find ways to get it into the hearts and minds of the people.  Scripture In Use has many different forms, such as opportunities to teach people to read, making banners, teaching family values, and many more.
